Alafara bags UNILORIN Best Lecturer award For 2015

Dr. Alafara A. Baba of the Department of Industrial Chemistry has been adjudged the Best Lecturer of the University of Ilorin.
Dr. Alafara, who is the Deputy Director of the institution's Central Research Laboratories, was nominated by students of the institution in an opinion poll organised by telecommunication services provider, MTN.
The nomination was held on MTN Season of Surprise, a platform, which was open to students of various universities to nominate 15 best lecturers in their respective institutions. The choice of the nominees was then subjected to online voting by students in each institution, after which lecturers with the highest votes were selected as the students' best.
In Unilorin, Dr. Alafara won the contest and he was presented with an ELEMAC 7.5KVa generator by MTN.

The generator was presented to the lecturer by a representative of the mobile network provider, Mr. Sanni Fagbenja, at a short ceremony held in front of the Science Lecture Theatre (SLT) on Wednesday, February 11, 2015.
Also, two students of the Faculty of Physical Sciences also went home with an iPhone 6 handset each, having won nominations by their colleagues. They are David Samuel Tope (Chemistry Department) and Sunday Olubukola Deborah (Industrial Chemistry Department).
In his remarks, Dr. Alafara dedicated the award to the past and current students of the Department of Industrial Chemistry and the University authorities for creating an enabling environment for teaching and research, noting that the “surprise gift” would inspire him to continue to strive for excellence in teaching and research.
