Two eyewitnesses told SaharaReporters that armed
soldiers on Monday stormed Kaduna Markaz, the residence of the Ameer of
the Kaduna zone of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria led by Shaikh
Ibraheem Zakzaky, killing one member of the group and injuring four.
Our sources said the soldiers
arrived around 4.45 p.m. in a white Hilux van led by one Captain Sene.
“They [soldiers] arrested one of the members of our group who told them
that the area was a restricted residential area, not meant for passage
of vehicles,” one source, who belongs to the Islamic sect, told
SaharaReporters. He added that, when they finally released the detained member, Captain Sene shot three other members at close range as he and his troops left the area. One of the victims reportedly died, while two sustained serious injuries, our sources claimed.
One sources added that some soldiers in another Hilux van marked Operation Yaki took a strategic position at the roundabout leading to the Markaz.
“I went to the soldiers and demanded to know what lead to the shooting, but they said nothing happened,” one source disclosed. He added that he asked to speak with the troops’ commander, to which the soldiers replied, “You cannot speak with anyone.”
Our sources identified the dead member as Umar Abubakar, identifying the injured members as Sani Yusuf, Auwal Ahmad, Lado Abubakar and Ayyuba Jibril.
