Gen. Muhammadu Buhari has
resolved to give priority to capital expenditure in budget when he
resumes office on May 29, 2015, as part of his efforts to develop the
country.
The president elect stated this on April 11, Saturday in Daura, Katsina State, while fielding questions from newsmen.
According to the News Agency of
Nigeria (NAN), Buhari noted that capital expenditure was necessary so as
to revitalize the industrial sector.
The
president elect explained that giving relevance to infrastructure would
help grow Nigeria’s economy to become at par with the developed
economies in the world.
He said:“There
must be much money available for capital expenditure to provide more
infrastructure in our industries that will attract investments and
develop the country”.
He also named the educational sector as another area his administration will revive, noting this, he said: “Our
education system has virtually collapsed, Nigerians voted APC. “We are
going to do something on education because improving educational system
will solve much of our problems.”
He said that he would appoint knowledgeable and experienced
technocrats to study handing over notes by ministries and make
recommendations.
