TASUED GRADUATES WIN PRESIDENTIAL NYSC AWARD
…Get Automatic Employment, Scholarship
The Vocational and Entrepreneurial Skill and Training of the University came to fore recently as two graduates of Tai Solarin University of Education, Ijagun, Ogun State were among the 164 ex-NYSC members given automatic employment and scholarships by President Goodluck Jonathan.


The graduates, who engaged in different Community Development projects, outshone their colleagues in the NYSC scheme for the 2012, 2013 and 2014 service years respectively.

The ex-corps members were hosted to a dinner by the President at the Villa in Abuja and were rewarded with automatic employment into the Federal Civil Service.  Among the lucky graduates were two graduates of the University who explored their vocational skills acquired from the Institution.

The best overall female corps member and who was among the nation’s top five for the 2012 NYSC year is Ikudehinbu Oluwaferanmi Justina (with call up No: TSU/2010/248250 and State code No; AB/10C/0323).

In addition to this, one of the recipients of the 2014 Presidential Award was also a graduate of the University; Shabi Yosola Ayodele (Male) with call up No: TSU/2012/214456 and State code: AB/138/1548) equally enjoyed Presidential honour.

Aside from the automatic employment, the recipients are also to enjoy scholarships for Post-graduate studies up till Doctorate level in any University of their choice across the globe.

VC ADVISES MATRICULATING STUDENTS TO BE OF GOOD BEHAVIOUR AND SHUN VICES
The Vice Chancellor, Prof. Oluyemisi Obilade has charged matriculating students in the 2014/2015 academic session to seize the unique opportunity TASUED has provided in compulsory vocational and entrepreneurial students in order to be successful in life .

Prof. Obilade while delivering her welcome speech at the ceremony which took place at the University Main Auditorium, Ijagun counselled the new intakes to take the opportunity poised to produce trainers of trainers, graduates that are self reliant and employers of labour.

“In its resolve to continue to remain the truly preferred 21st century University, new programmes that would lead to the award of single honours and Bachelor’s of Technology degrees are being introduced by TASUED,” she noted.

The Vice Chancellor further disclosed that Memorandum of Understanding with foreign Universities such as the University of Colorado, USA; University of Cape Coast, Ghana amongst others, have been signed recently with TASUED.

“There would be exchange programme between our students and staff where some students would commence their studies here at Ijagun and complete them in Colorado, USA”, she disclosed.

The Vice Chancellor therefore urged them to shun all such vices as rudeness, destructive tendencies, examination malpractice, sexual harassment, criminal tendencies and cultism among others and the need to carry on the torch of excellence and honour which generations of TASUEDITES have upheld from inception.

The matriculation oath was then administered on the students by the Registrar, Dr. Femi Kayode.

WOMEN IN ACADEMICS ORGANIZES CERVICAL, BREAST CANCERS SCREENING EXERCISE
As part of  activities marking the 2015 World Women’s Day, Women in Academics (WIA) TASUED Chapter  is organizing Cervical and Breast Cancer screening Exercise in collaboration with the TASUED Medical Centre.

The exercise, which would take place on Monday 9th March, 2015 at the TASUED Medical Centre by 8:00a.m., is being organized for all female staff and students of the University.

Registration closes on Thursday, 5th March 2015, with a fee of N200 while the test costs  N1,000.00 only.

TASUED HOLDS ORIENTATION EXERCISE FOR FRESHERS
To inculcate the ideals of the University system into the newly admitted students for the 2014/2015 Academic session, the Students Affairs Unit of the Tai Solarin University of Education, Ijagun, recently organized an orientation programme for its freshers.

Speaking at the two – day event, the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Oluyemisi Obilade urged the students not to misuse the freedom  the ivory towers offered but to rather take advantage of it so as to better their lives.

In the same vein, the Chairman of the one day lecture, Prof. Kayode Ijaduola advised the students to abide by the rules guiding the University and their studentship warning them not to join bad groups.

The Dean, Students Affairs, Dr. Abosede Ewumi advised the students to be of good behaviours and to as well dress decently as the institution frowns at unruly behaviours. She added that the Students Affairs Unit operates an open-door policy and students should not hesitate to visit the office for any challenges they might encounter in the course of their studentship.

Dr. Tolu Ogunleye, the University Counselor, talked on the Counseling services/Dress code and attitudes of students to studies. She warned ladies to desist from wearing half -clad dresses as and provocative wears.

She enjoined the students to avail themselves of the services available at the counseling unit, promising them that counseling unit treats issues on confidential level.

On examination malpractice, the Deputy Registrar, Exams and Records, Mr. Babatunde Oduwole enjoined the newly admitted students to refrain from cheating in the examination hall, stating that penalty for examination malpractice is expulsion.  He also reminded them to endeavour to write their matric numbers on their exam booklets.

Other speakers at the orientation exercise include Oluko Josefu Adeyemi who spoke on critical and creative thinking, the Chief Security Officer, Mr. Ola Azeez, among others.
