UNILORIN: Adewole tasks medical doctors on professional, academic qualifications


Image result for unilorinThe Vice-Chancellor of the University of Ibadan (UI), Prof. Isaac Folorunsho Adewole, has advised medical doctors in the country to give equal attention to the attainment of both professional and academic qualifications in the course of their careers.
Prof. Adewole gave the advice last Wednesday (March 25, 2015) while delivering the Guest Lecture at the 31st Professional Initiation Ceremony for the Batch A of the 2015 University of Ilorin Medical Graduands.  A total of 64 new medical doctors took the Hippocratic Oath on the occasion.

In his Lecture, entitled “Beyond the Coveted MBBS: Contemporary Problems and Prospects of Postgraduate Medical Education in Nigeria”, the Professor of Obstetrics and Gynaecology noted that in the past, a lot of Nigerian specialists working in the University as lecturers also had academic qualifications on top of their professional awards.
