The Osun State Universal Basic Education Board has recruited 3,000
new teachers for its public primary schools. This was disclosed by the
Board chairmant, Mr. Felix Awofisayo on Thursday at a training session
for Quality Assurance Officers of SUBEB, Local Government Education
Authorities and Zonal Inspector of Education in the state.
He said, “We have recruited 3,000 new teachers and they have been
provided with instructional materials to improve standard of education
in the state.”
Apart from the new teachers, the SUBEB chairman said that
infrastructural development tailored to boost the standard of education
in the state was tremendous.
“The transformational agenda include infrastructural developments,
such as construction of new 16 model schools; 15-storey building model
middle schools; furniture; ICT equipment; science laboratories; water
and electricity as well as renovation of dilapidated schools are part of
efforts to enhance the standard of education in the state,” he added.
He explained that the capacity building for the participants was in
recognition of the fact that highly skilled manpower was needed for
quality of delivery of basic education.
