Delivering a lecture on the occasion, the Guest Speaker and Deputy Chief Imam of the University of Ilorin Mosque, Dr. Nasir Abdus-Salam, described the Quran as “a book of all times”.
In the lecture, entitled "Al-Quran: the Unique", Dr. Abdus-Salam said, "The Quran is nothing other than the words of Allah, the language is classical; the style is unique and different from the eloquent and instructive presentations of the prophetic wisdom recorded in the book of Ahadith. The Qur'an was not invented or forged; it is not a product of human research efforts; nor the words of Prophet Muhammad (SAW). From the beginning to the end, every word in the Quran tells the reader that it is the word of Allah."
The Deputy Chief Iman said that in learning the Qur'an, the teacher must be carefully selected in accordance with the tradition of Prophet Muhammad (SAW), knowledge, good character and best manner.
"It is a divine book that adequately suffices as a way out of crisis and tribulations, protection and deviation and credible recourse for reference. It is a book that must be consulted and it is relevant to all situations," he said
Earlier in his opening address, the host and the Chairman of the Muslim Community, Senior Staff Quarters, Prof. O. E. Abdullahi, thanked members of the community for their efforts so far, adding that the graduands are better than their colleagues outside.

He said that the community needs over N4 million to complete the mosque project, urging all Muslims in the Staff Quarters and the former chairmen to continue to assist.
