Akwa Ibom College Of Education Denies 27 Lecturers 2 Years Salaries

Akwa Ibom College of Education chapter of Colleges of Education Academic Staff Union (COEASU), has alleged that 27 senior lecturers of the institution have been denied salaries for two years.
This allegation is contained in open letter signed by the union’s Chairman, Mrs Gloria Inyang and her secretary, Mr Iboro Ukpong, to the Gov. Godswill Akpabio,
In the letter, the union said that the 27 academic staff were chief, principal and senior lecturers, whose names had been removed from voucher of the college without justification.
The union stated that these senior lecturers were pillars for the success of the next round of accreditation of courses in the institution.

The Federal Government has said it appointed 38 varsity chancellors from outside the geographical location of each chancellor to cross-fertilize diverse cultural backgrounds and ensure synergy among them. The Minister of Education, Mallam Ibrahim Shekarau, disclosed this at the Palace of Eze Cletus Ilomuanya in Obinugwu, Orlu Local Government Area of Imo State, during the formal presentation of the Monarch’s appointment letter as Chancellor, Federal University, Bernin Kebbi, Kebbi State.

Osun Education Board Employs Over 3000 Teachers Into Pry Schools

The Osun State Universal Basic Education Board has recruited 3,000 new teachers for its public primary schools. This was disclosed by the Board chairmant, Mr. Felix Awofisayo on Thursday at a training session for Quality Assurance Officers of SUBEB, Local Government Education Authorities and Zonal Inspector of Education in the state.
He said, “We have recruited 3,000 new teachers and they have been provided with instructional materials to improve standard of education in the state.”

The decision was taken by the speaker on Friday, after the four lawmakers declared their decision to join the APC.
After the declaration by Benson the State’s Governor, Seriake Dickson, described the decision as a step in the right direction.
In a statement, Dickson said the action of the State Legislature was not only constitutional, but will also instil party discipline and sanitise the polity.

In yesterday’s edition of Vanguard, we published a story with the headline: “Controversy trails Aregbesola’s son, alleged arrest” and quoting a source as confirming the arrest of the son of Governor Rauf Aregbeola of Osun state for money laundering. We have since discovered that the report was false in its entirety as no son of Governor Aregbesola was arrested as reported. We hereby tender our sincere apology for the embarrassment the story must have caused the governor and his family.

General Muhammadu Buhari has submitted to the security agencies for screening some names being considered for ministerial appointments.
According to Daily Post, the names were submitted by the president-elect about a week ago.
The Department of State Services, the Directorate of Military Intelligence and the National Intelligence Agency are the security agencies screening the potential ministers.

The Nigeria Police has announced the death of Alhaji Muhammad Hurdi, the Katsina State commissioner of police

The Enugu State Police Command on Saturday denied locking up the state house of assembly, which has been under lock and key since about 14 lawmakers moved to impeach Governor Sullivan Chime on May 3.
The House was thrown into crisis after the development, as about seven lawmakers, who were opposed to the planned impeachment, removed the Speaker, Eugene Odoh, and elected Chinedu Nwamba in his place.
Odoh and Nwamba are both laying claims to the office of the Speaker, but the closure of the legislative complex meant that none has had the opportunity to preside over the House since May 3.
