Nigeria’s borders
shut tonight for polls
President Goodluck Jonathan has
approved the closure of all land and sea borders of the country, ahead of
Saturday’s presidential election.
According to a statement signed by
Abubakar G. Magaji, permanent secretary at the ministry of interior, the
closure will last “from 12.00 mid night Wednesday 25th March, 2015 to 12.00 mid
night Saturday 28th March,2015 to allow for peaceful conduct of the forthcoming
national elections”. Magaji said the Nigeria Immigration Services had also been
directed to ensure that non-Nigerians do not participate in any part of the
election processes.
