The University of Uyo temporary site was yesterday invaded by gunmen leaving 5 students critically injured.The gunmen who invaded the graduate student’ hostel at about 1pm, ransacked the entire 20-room hostel and made away with valuables which includes 10 laptops, 20 mobile phones, cash and other personal belongings of the graduate students.
One of the affected students who commented said that they were sleeping after reading for the night when they suddenly heard a kick on the hostel door which and the next thing they saw were armed men who immediately ordered every one to remain calm and had their faces down through the operation that lasted for about an hour.
An affected female student said that the armed men made away with her with her research materials stored in her laptops and other personal effects, including cash and hitting her with the butt of a gun.
