NGO wants FG to intensify search for Chibok girls – An NGO, the Baobab for Women Rights, has called on the Federal Government to intensify search for the more than 200 kidnapped students of Government Girls Secondary School in Chibok, Borno.
Professor Hauwa Biu, the Coordinator of the group in the state, made the call in a speech to mark the one-year anniversary of the abduction of the girls by suspected Boko Haram insurgents.
“We call on the Federal Government to intensify efforts for the immediate rescue of the missing girls.
“Adequate plans must be put in place to cater for their needs and address the trauma the parents of these girls are going through,” Biu said.
She also called on the government to as a matter of urgency, beef up security in all schools and colleges in the state.
“Adequate security measures should be put in place in all schools and colleges in the state as a matter of urgency, as well as rebuild those destroyed.
“We also call for the immediate re-opening of all schools which have been closed down for months in the state.
“There is the need for civil society action to help the people of Chibok rebuild their community,” the coordinator said.
