The Federal College of Education (Technical), Akoka,
Lagos is turning out 3,682 graduates during this year’s combined
Convocation Ceremonies taking place between Wednesday, May 13 and
Thursday, May 14, 2014.
According to the Provost of the college, Dr Sijibomi Olusanya, awards
and prizes would be conferred on graduates for Professional Diploma in
Education (PDE) and National Certificate in Education (NCE).
Three sets of students combined from 2011/2012, 2012/2013 and
2013/2014 academic sessions in all NCE Full-Time, Sandwich and
Professional Diploma in Education programmes, run by the college, will
be presented at the event.
Olusanya said that the event, scheduled for May 13 to May 14, would cover the 2012/2013 and 2014 sets, respectively.
The provost said that a breakdown showed that 1,215 students would
graduate in the 2011/2012 set, while 1,502 graduates belonged to the
2012/2013 session.
According to the provost, 965 graduates were turned out in the 2013/2014 session.
The provost said that Jacob Iwerima, Integrated Science/ Mathematics Department, topped the 2011/2012 set with a CGPA of 4.78.
According to him, Miss Temitope Adelekan, of the Integrated
Science/Chemistry Department, scored 4.83 CGPA as the best NCE student
in the 2012/2013 set.
He said that Mustapha Sherifdeen, Integrated Science/Biology
Department, emerged the best graduating student for the 2013/2014
session, with a CGPA of 4.65.
He said that the college had expanded and reviewed some of her
academic programmes, which includes a new NCE Primary Education Studies.
The provost said that the professional diploma in education programme
had also replaced the previous Technical Teachers Certificate.
