Lead to the last letter, Adedimeji urges student leaders UNILORIN

The new leaders of the Association of Students of Peace and Strategic Studies (ASPASS), University of Ilorin, have been advised to lead to the last letter of leadership and conduct themselves in a disciplined manner in order to be successful.
The Director of the Centre for Peace and Strategic Studies, University of Ilorin, Dr. Mahfouz Adedimeji, gave this advice last Monday (May 4, 2015) during the inauguration of the Executive Council of the association.

According to the Director, who disclosed that the ten letters of leadership as an acronym require that the student leaders should Love their followers, the Centre and University, be Excellent in their studies and character, and be active in the discharge of their duties, not passive or dormant.
Dr. Adedimeji noted further that leadership entails being Disciplined, Exemplary, Responsible, sacrificial and honest. He also emphasised that as leaders, they should have Integrity and take Planning seriously, since to fail to plan is to automatically plan to fail.  He indicated that he shared the ten points in some detail with Nigerians over a period of ten weeks before and after the 2015 presidential elections in a national newspaper.
Also speaking on the occasion, a former Director of the Centre, Dr Joseph Fayeye, counseled the students to take their inauguration oath seriously and contribute to the uplift of the Centre by doing their best within the limited time of their sojourn.
Other lecturers at the occasion, Dr Abosede Babatunde and Dr Shittu Raji also admonished the students on hard work, seriousness and devotion to the vision and mission of the Centre and the University during their studies and afterwards while drawing their attention to how the Association was started a few years ago through the efforts of the first President, Sister Olagunji, a PhD student of the Centre.
In his acceptance speech, the new President of the Association, Mr. David Oladiji, expressed his gratitude to the Centre and his colleagues for the confidence they reposed in him and his team. He also promised to make the association greater than he met it while regretting the absence of his predecessor.
Apart from the President, other members of the newly inaugurated Executive Council include Abisola Fayoyiwa (Vice-President), Abel Alao (General Secretary), Sunday Ibeh (Assistant General Secretary and Organizer Bala (Financial Secretary).
Others include the Treasurer, Adetola Adenigbagbe; the Social/ Welfare Secretary, Williams Ologba; the P.R.O. I, Ayodele Olajumoke and the P.R.O. II, Fatai Bello.
