Image result for news paper onlineThe Northern States Governors’ Forum on Monday, said terror activities in the country will soon be a thing of the past, especially as the military under the administration of President Goodluck Jonathan is doing its best to put an end to insurgency in the North.
The forum described the recent bombings in Maiduguri, the Borno State capital, as an attempt by the Boko Haram terror group to create the impression they were unshaken by the ongoing military operations in their stronghold.

Chairman of the forum and the Niger State governor, Dr Mu’azu Babangida Aliyu, who made the position of the forum known in a statement signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Israel Ebije, urged Nigerians, especially those living in the flash point areas of the North, to remain calm.
According to Aliyu: “The fight against terror is already yielding positive results.
“Let me condole with the families of those who lost their lives in the recent Maiduguri blasts. It is, indeed, sad they had to die that way.
“I am, however, confident they did not die in vain. The terror group is only picking soft targets to appear relevant.
“Our soldiers are working very hard to end terrorism in the North; I, therefore, urge Nigerians to eschew sentiments and support the government of President Jonathan to win the war against terror.
“We must, therefore, stop politicising terror; we must see war against terror as our collective duty to God and mankind to end it.”
Aliyu urged people living in terror-prone areas of the North to remain vigilant, adding that movement of unfamiliar persons or group of people must be investigated.
He maintained that insecurity was not for security operatives alone. Aliyu, who expressed optimism that the activities of Boko Haram would soon become history, stating that the effort of the military was a remarkable step towards bringing lasting peace to the trouble areas of the North.
While commending his colleagues in containing terror in states with prevalent terror activities, he said more security measures should be put in place to ensure the forthcoming election did not record attacks.
