The Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Research,
Technology and Innovations (RTI), University of Ilorin, Prof. Gabriel
Olatunji, has charged newly recruited the technologists to justify the
confidence reposed in them by the University.
Prof. Olatunji made the call last Monday
(April 13, 2015) while declaring open the two-weeks intensive training
organised for the technologists by the Centre for Research Development
and In- House Training (CREDIT).
The Deputy Vice- Chancellor, who
represented the Vice- Chancellor, Prof. AbdulGaniyu Ambali (OON), on the
occasion, said, “Open your heart. Show and demonstrate interest in what
you will be taught. Go home and revise what you are taught and
assimilate properly before the following day."
While appreciating the Director of
CREDIT for the job excellently done, Prof. Olatunji said that the
University would continue to support the Centre, as its work has proved
to be effective and rewarding.
The Deputy Vice-Chancellor pointed out
that the University is assured that the new technologists “are trainable
and talented", urging them to rediscover themselves.
Urging them to make their marks in the
service to the University, Prof. Olatunji said that there is no room for
"half-half" commitment.
In her remarks, the Director of CREDIT,
Prof. (Mrs.) A. T. Oladiji, thanked the University Administration under
the leadership of the Vice- Chancellor, Prof. AbdulGaniyu Ambali (OON),
for identifying the need for the training of new staff members and
providing the necessary resources required to facilitate the training.
Prof. Oladiji said, "The University of
Ilorin makes provision for training and retraining yearly in line with
best practices worldwide. In the last one year, many staff of the
University have benefitted from at least one form of training. It is,
therefore, not surprising that the University has been consistently
rated as one of the topmost Universities in Nigeria and one of the best
in Africa."
