The Vice-Chancellor of the University of
Ilorin, Prof. AbdulGaniyu Ambali (OON), has been appointed the Grand
Commander of all paramilitary groups on the University campus.
Disclosing this when he led a group of
officers of the Unilorin Man O' War on a visit to the Vice-Chancellor
penultimate Thursday (April 30, 2015), the Commander in Chief of the
Unilorin Man O' War, Adesanya Misbaudeen, said that Prof. Ambali would
be decorated with the new title at a colourful ceremony later in the
month.
The Commander in Chief, who disclosed
that the Unilorin Man O' War was established in 1985, pointed out that
“Man O' War is a youth organization saddled with the responsibility of
raising better citizens and leaders through the citizenship and
leadership training centre. H e said that it is also an organization
where youths discover their potential thereby contributing positively to
the society.”
Mr. Misbaudeen, who is a 400 Level
student of the University, thanked the Vice-Chancellor for his earlier
visit to the Man O' War Bay and also for the donation he made to the
organisation. He maintained that the Unilorin Man O' War works with the
University Security Unit and the Students' Affairs Unit to maintain
peace and orderliness on campus.
He said, “We appreciate your visit. It
was a surprise to everyone. It was a honour to receive your message
through the Dean, Students' Affairs”.
In his response, the Vice-Chancellor
expressed the University's delight and support for what the organisation
is doing, saying, “My visit to you afforded me the opportunity to see
how you are spending your spare time. I admire your courage and what you
are doing. It prepares you for the challenge you will face in the
future. Our graduates are doing well and this extra mile you have taken
means that you will do very well”.
Prof. Ambali cited the examples of
Unilorin graduates doing well in various sectors of the nation's
economy, noting that Unilorin graduates always stand out. “We have
prepared you to have an open mind and be ready to face challenges. It is
a great opportunity to receive you here. We are confident you will be
occupying great positions in the future. We shall continue to support
you”, he assured the Man O' War.
Other members of the Unilorin Man O' War
that visited the Vice-Chancellor were: Abubakar Kareem, Ogunmodede
Sesan, Shittu Mubarak, Babawale Blessing, Oyebanji Olufemi Isaac,
Shonibare Oluwatoyin Seun and Sodiq Jamiu.
