New Unilorin NASU exco assures management of cooperation

The newly elected Chairman of the University of Ilorin Branch of the Non-Academic Staff Union of Universities and Allied Institutions (NASU), Comrade (Mrs.) Olabisi Fadeke Adesina, has assured the University management of the Union's cooperation at all times.
Comrade Adesina gave the assurance penultimate Thursday (April 30, 2015) when she led members of the new Unilorin NASU Executive Committee on a courtesy visit to the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. AbdulGaniyu Ambali (OON), in his office.

The first female to lead a staff Union in the University said, “NASU is a partner in progress with the administration. So, please take us as your children and we assure you that we will be obedient children”, she opined.Comrade Adeshina further told the Vice-Chancellor, “You know what is due to your children, do not delay what is good to us. We promise to work with you and we are not going to promise people what we cannot do, but we plead for you to give us listening ears.”
Explaining the rejection of the electronic voting system proposal by members of the Union, Comrade Adesina said this was because it was too close to the election.
In his response, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Ambali, congratulated the new NASU Chairman and members of her Executive Committee for the successful election. “We understand you and what you went through few hours before your election”, the Vice-Chancellor said.
Clearing the air on the management's suggestion to NASU to adopt the e-voting system that has been institutionalised in the University for their election, Prof. Ambali said, “The management wanted to show the whole world that we are the first in all ramifications by conducting election electronically. We are putting to test things that will take the country to greater heights”.
He stated that Unilorin students are given priority attention in the country when it comes to employment. This the Vice-Chancellor attributed to the collective effort of staff in the University. He called for more understanding between the Union and the management, counselling them to watch what they say as it might affect the people around them.
The Vice-Chancellor submitted that he was very comfortable with the address of the NASU Chairman, saying, “I want all of us to have the same focus and sacrifice for the continuous greatness of the University.
Assuring all workers' unions on campus that he won't hide anything from them, Prof. Ambali said, “Leadership is responsibility and we shall always carry you along”.
The Vice-Chancellor pleaded for the understanding of the Unions, saying, “Let us know if there are issues that require our attention. We are here for you and your members. We are here for the students and staff and we will carry you along. We require your understanding and I want you to enjoy your job”.
