DELSU Releases List Of Students Punished For Examination Malpractice

The Delta State University has released the summary of final joint report of the two groups of examination malpractice mobile disciplinary committee for first semester of regular/continuous education (CE) programmes for 2014/2015 academic session from 30th March to 30th April, 2015.

Following the report, about 124 students have either been expelled , rusticated or had their certificates withdrawn for various malpractices during the examination.

59 OAU Students Awarded Scholarship Worth N3.5m

Fifty-nine students of the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Osun State, has benefited from a scholarship award worth N3.5m. sponsored by the OAU Muslim Graduates’ Association.

Prof. Dennis Onah Christopher has been appointed as the new Vice Chancellor of the Enugu State University of Science and Technology, (ESUT) by the Governor of Enugu State Sullivan Chime.

Lagos Secondary Schools Not Yet Ready for CBT – NUT

Lagos State NUT criticized the use of Computer-Based Test, CBT, in secondary schools examinations.

The Lagos State wing of the Nigeria Union of Teachers, NUT, says the introduction of the Computer-Based Test, CBT, in secondary schools examinations may not achieve the desired result. The state NUT Chairman, Mr Segun Raheem, made the assertion in Lagos yesterday. Raheem said the situation might be so because most of the students were not adequately prepared for CBT.
He said the students were not prepared due to the non-availability of Information Communication Technology, ICT, facilities and human resources. He noted that computer science which, hitherto, was an optional subject and suddenly made a compulsory subject would leave some students unprepared for CBT. “Computer Science has just been introduced to secondary schools as a compulsory subject which is coming rather late.

Akwa Ibom College Of Education Denies 27 Lecturers 2 Years Salaries

Akwa Ibom College of Education chapter of Colleges of Education Academic Staff Union (COEASU), has alleged that 27 senior lecturers of the institution have been denied salaries for two years.
This allegation is contained in open letter signed by the union’s Chairman, Mrs Gloria Inyang and her secretary, Mr Iboro Ukpong, to the Gov. Godswill Akpabio,
In the letter, the union said that the 27 academic staff were chief, principal and senior lecturers, whose names had been removed from voucher of the college without justification.
The union stated that these senior lecturers were pillars for the success of the next round of accreditation of courses in the institution.

The Federal Government has said it appointed 38 varsity chancellors from outside the geographical location of each chancellor to cross-fertilize diverse cultural backgrounds and ensure synergy among them. The Minister of Education, Mallam Ibrahim Shekarau, disclosed this at the Palace of Eze Cletus Ilomuanya in Obinugwu, Orlu Local Government Area of Imo State, during the formal presentation of the Monarch’s appointment letter as Chancellor, Federal University, Bernin Kebbi, Kebbi State.
